My life took a pause two weeks back when my wife went into labor. We had been expecting, it was around the due date after all but I never in my wildest dream would have imagined the roller coaster of feelings that you go through with child birth.
You feel helpless as a husband looking at your wife struggle. You try your best to help but you know deep down it’s not actually doing much but still, you hope that what you are doing is making your wife feel better. At the end of what could well be hours of stress (I have heard people going through it for even more than a day) comes the baby and your life changes forever.
It’s a life event I wish for everyone to experience, and it grounded me.
Life had stopped, not for a moment but for a good week or two, the newborn and my wife were my entire world and that was all I was thinking about. It grounded me into what was most important in life.
In my day job I do Product and AI at Kurrent.io and work on an AI Native product called Capacitor all the time. This meant that my daily news feed and all social media algorithms were hyper optimized to give me the latest in AI including all the doom and gloom in the industry. Apparently AI now has a 10% chance to end up killing us? What the heck?
And as I am changing gears with paternity, it made me think, this is not how it should be. Humans and human experience is beautiful and should be talked about more often. AI generated content now forms a large part of the content being produced on the internet, but not that this is really an issue, my issue is more with the lack of originality of issues and missing the human touch or feeling from articles. For example the audio to listen to the article on the website has been generated by AI but from words written a 100% by me.
So I got together with my best friend Azagen, and we discussed it and we thought this is actually the time to put the Human under the spotlight and to record the depth of human experiences and stories.
